Blogging Bears

Students at Hadley Middle School in Wichita, Kansas - USA, sent a teddy bear named Ted Hadley to students in Italy. In return, students in Italy sent their teddy bear (Bea) to students at Hadley. The students will be journaling from the view point of their visiting bears. This exchange will help the students practice their English, as well as learn about a different country and their culture.

My visit with Morgan

Hi!! I went home with Morgan and she took me to church with her. At church it was the Blessing of Animals, and I was blessed. For dinner that night we had raviolis, it was yummy! I also met her faimily, they were nice to me. I went to Morgan's grandma's house and we went to a place where she plays BINGO, we almost won!!
I went to classes with Morgan and had a nice time in her choir class. We watched some TV and also played outside. I had a good time at her house.
I had a good time at Morgan's! She is very kind. Love, Bea

Bea and Mrs. Busch

Hello,

Today I met Kathy Busch, the assistant superindent of middle schools in Wichita. She was glad to meet me and to see the gifts and information I brought with me. In the picture is Mr. Wakefield, the principal at Hadley, and the student I was going home with, Bradon.
Bradon is wearing his Leadership shirt, because he is in a class that teaches students to be good citizens.
I hope you are all doing well. I am having a fun time here in Wichita. All of the students want to take me home. I will need a calendar to write the names of the students who will be taking me home so I can keep track of where I am going!
I miss you, hope Ted is having a good time there (I am sure he is). Love, Bea

I'm having a great time with Chiara

Friday, October 3
Dear Diary,
I was looking forward to telling my day.
This morning, Giorgia and I went to school and her classmate Chiara invited me to spend my weekend with her. I agreed, of course!
At school , I had lessons with my friends, and I’ve known Mrs Gennaro, their Italian teacher, who was very happy to meet me.
At 2:00 p.m. Chiara and I went home.
Day after day , I’m more and more convinced that Italian food is very different from ours and I’m sometimes afraid it could give me indigestion, so I’m not eating too much.
I met Chiara’s family; everybody is happy of my visit. I’ve soon made friends with her brother in fact he let me play with his toys. Some toys, however, were frightening.
Chiara , showed me some of her things, (even one of her pijamas with a big a bear that looks like me …I think that it is a distant relative of mine) and some teddy bears.
She took me some photos and she told me that she is very glad I’m staying with her and she would like to go to Kansas to meet my friends.
Her mother spoke of me to her friends and they went to pay a visit to me.
I was happy to be the centre of attention!
So, another wonderful day has just finished.
At the moment I am sleepy. Chiara has arranged a very nice place where I can sleep (a beautiful and small yellow house with lots of floors).
Good night.

Love, Ted
