Blogging Bears

Students at Hadley Middle School in Wichita, Kansas - USA, sent a teddy bear named Ted Hadley to students in Italy. In return, students in Italy sent their teddy bear (Bea) to students at Hadley. The students will be journaling from the view point of their visiting bears. This exchange will help the students practice their English, as well as learn about a different country and their culture.

TED IS FOND OF HISTORY!

23rd October 2008

My dear friends, today was my last day with Alice. I have to tell you lots of interesting things.
This morning I didn’t go to school because I slept until late. At eleven o'clock a.m. I had a snack with Alice's mother. At 1:00 p.m. I had lunch with Alice and her family: spaghetti, fish and chocolate mousse as dessert. I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!!!!! In the afternoon I played with Michael, Alice's cousin. He is 2 years old, he is very small and funny. Then I went to the museum with Alice and her parents. In the museum there are lots of tombs of the Messapian people. The Messapians had Greek origins and were the first inhabitants of Mesagne. Alice told me that Mesagne is rich in archaeological sites. It was too late to visit them, but she promised to take me there next time I’ ll stay with her. Since she saw I was sad because I would have liked to visit them soon, she bought a postcard to let me see some of the remains of the ancient town. You know, I’m very fond of history and I’m looking forward to knowing further news.
In the evening I had dinner at Alice's grandmother and I met Alice's cousins Mariangela and Alessandra; the former is very nice, in fact she played with me. Now it’s eleven o'clock p.m. and I’m going to bed with Alice. I’m thinking about the beautiful moments spent with her. Who is the next friend I will stay with? I don’t know, but I hope he will be as nice as Alice.

Your friend, Ted

ALICE AND TED VISIT THE MEDIEVAL CASTLE

Hi my dear friends,
how is it going?
I haven’t written to you for a long time, but here are my latest news.

Today Alice invited me to stay with her and I agreed, of course! She is so nice and kind! After school I said goodbye to my friend Mattia and went home with Alice. When we arrived home her parents were waiting for us. They liked me a lot. We had lunch, I had pasta with speck (a kind of smoked ham), a piece of steak and I drank a coke.

In the afternoon I went to a shopping centre with Alice and her friends. I liked two t-shirts and a dvd, but I hadn’t any money so Alice lent me some euros and I bought them. At four o’clock p.m. we went back home and I had a rest. When I got up I helped Alice to do her homework. She had some difficulties, but fortunately I was there.

In the evening Alice and I went to visit the medieval castle and the churches of Mesagne. They are very old, but fabulous and rich in art! Later we went to a “pizzeria” and I ate pizza and chips. It’s fantastic, I love pizza, it’s yummy. Now Alice and I are in her bedroom and I’m looking at a poster of Zac Efron that is hung on the wall. Alice says he is very handsome, and she is in love with him, but I’m jealous, I think I’m better than him.
At the moment we are in her bed and we’re listening to one of Ashley Tisdale’s song. Yes! I’m sleepy , but I can’t help saying that I love you very much and I miss you a lot.

Hugs
Ted
