Vision for your Classroom
I am reading a book right now about instructional coaching and in it the author talks about working with teachers on creating a vision for their classrooms. He then goes on to discuss how the visions helped focus the participants to find their voice. This made me reflect on you and my desire to help you find your voice within your own classroom.
I thought it would be helpful for you to write a personal vision for your TRC classroom. Think about your classroom and how it is functioning right now, is it working the way you want? Are you happy with how you are integrating technology? What is your classrooms LoTi level average? What worked well? What didn't work so well?
If you feel comfortable posting your vision for next year please do so, if not at least write it down for yourself to reflect on later. Instead of posting your vision for next year, please post on this question: What is your biggest fear about the grant ending? What ideas do you have on how to overcome this fear?

My biggest fear of the grant ending is I will become ancient in my knowledge of technology before next year even ends. I have and continue to learn so much. Therefore I am able to teach the kids new and exciting things. However, I am now going to have to find time in my no existent time opening to research on my own. My other fear is what if something breaks down and I forget how to fix it or something great comes along and I don't have my sounding board around anymore?
There are going to me some growing pains as with anything. But, like a baby learns to walk with out holding on to something, I hope we are able to continue flying with technology with our trainer there to push us out of the nest!

My vision is still somewhat blurred..... It is fun to start off the year with virtually blank canvasas and shape the students into Century 21 learners. At the same time it is hard to teach these kids to be great problem solvers in life. Everything is easily accessable to them so a strong work ethic is hard to come by. I would love to have students who could work collaboratively on projects and use thier experiences to teach others. My vision is simply to have students that care about their future.

2. I will not grow in my knowledge as much as I have in the 2years of the grant.

Yesterday, i learned that technology is advancing to the point that every 4 years, something is considered obselete. if that's the case, we are preparing students for a future that we don't even know what it will look like. despite this, we can likely count on certain skills that are essential for the future. students must know how to read, perform analytical thinking, and express clear thoughts on computer or verbally. with these things in mind, i hope that one day i see a school that has the curriculum of true 21st century skills. i think formative testing is necessary, but i don't like the consequences it can have on instruction when it comes to the high stakes testing we have now. i do hope this changes and my vision of: a school that incorporates math, science, and reading in the context of a global learning environment. i see students from china, india, and the United States working collaboratively to examine and answer the challenges of the issues that affect people around the world today.
i think this could be the way we do education, someday, but we can already see the benefits of planning for this today.
